Intro
SPEAKER_02This podcast was produced on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. Welcome to Australia!
SPEAKER_00The content is hideous.
SPEAKER_02Sorry about this. Oh my god. Hello, hello.
SPEAKER_01Hey doll, how are you?
SPEAKER_02Oh, doll.
SPEAKER_01Long time no see.
SPEAKER_02Thriving.
SPEAKER_01Thriving, surviving.
SPEAKER_02Surviving. I'm Australian surviving.
SPEAKER_01You're Australian surviving.
SPEAKER_02That kicked off last night.
Australian Survivor Australia V The World
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_01I've got to get on board because I've never gotten on board with a survivor before.
SPEAKER_02Do you know what? This is a good one to watch. Even though you'll be like, who?
SPEAKER_01That's a lie. Did watch for Pia Miranda.
SPEAKER_02So sadly, Pia is not on this card. No, she's not, no. But um, yeah. Hey.
SPEAKER_01And it's the best of both of us because it's American survivors.
SPEAKER_02Americans, and then like a handful of like global survivors. Fabulous, yeah. Including this absolute queen from Survivor New Zealand, who in the first episode has already made some iconic lines. Like King George walks past her and she just goes under her breath, oh god, he's insufferable. Fabulous. In like a K reaction, she's like, he's insufferable.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, oh heaven.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And then she reverts she refers to the reality TV multiverse at tribal. And I was like, honey. Yeah. Give her like her immunity forever. Give her immunity. Exactly. So good. Um also we can't
And Just Like WTF...
SPEAKER_02not talk about the huge uh Carrie Bradshaw-shaped elephant in the room.
SPEAKER_01Oh fuck me, Dad. Fuck. What?
SPEAKER_02What a hate crime.
SPEAKER_01What a hate crime. It is homophobia. It is. I the thing that's extraordinary about it is that everyone is joined in their absolute loathing. There is no black and white. It is literally like, granted, we were for the entire series, but we still had the expect our expectations were super low, but there were some expectations.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you couldn't have them low enough. Low enough. You cannot tell me that that what we saw, that whatever you could call if you could call that television, I don't know, that that was in any way planned. No, this was like absolutely cancelled.
SPEAKER_01This was absolutely cancelled. Last minute cancellation.
SPEAKER_02Epcot? Can we talk about Epcot? You are introducing new characters in the series for the one. And one of them is Epcot.
SPEAKER_01Epcot with a lactose intolerance.
SPEAKER_02A shitty, non-binary hipster. Also, how MPK is it to like write in these like pauper hipster characters? That just like free you can tell that he's at some point in his life hosted a fabulous, rich, gay Thanksgiving, and some some freeloaders rocked up. And then he's like, oh, pocket that that's riding gold.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, some you know, some voguing twink came along.
SPEAKER_02And just for the feed, and he was like, disgusting poor artiste is taking me for a ride, and I was like, that happened to you. I can just tell. Yeah, exactly. Relatable.
SPEAKER_01But the whole thing was an absolute, absolute disaster. And it's yeah, I was literally gobsmacked. And also, I knew that this we had 33 minutes of an episode. That that that was not a final. That was that was a season final, not a series final.
SPEAKER_02Was it even a to to be introducing characters that are related to characters that are related to characters in of any final is like bizarre to me. It should just be all wrapping up. Plus, it went for 33 minutes. Excuse me.
SPEAKER_01We were we got introduced to the shit bowl six minutes before the end, and I was like, we have no so we have six minutes to wrap this all up because nothing had been resolved, nothing. You spend also a whole season about Aiden and then just get rid of him.
SPEAKER_02He's just bye.
SPEAKER_01Just bye.
SPEAKER_02And then Duncan, bye. I thought if anything, if anything, we would have Duncan like uh uh let me off this plane. Like, do you know what I mean? Like, oh, I've changed my mind, I'm in love with Carabach. No, no, nothing instead we had Victor Garba's character just rock up to Thanksgiving and be like, I guess I'm here.
SPEAKER_01Stage and screen legend Victor Garba had to deal with an overflowing toilet of shit.
SPEAKER_02And he had to tell everyone that it was not, in fact, his shit. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Which look, we've all been there. All because of Epcot, all because of Epcot and My parents were rarely entered now. Just extraordinary.
SPEAKER_02And was it Sylvia or Sylvia? Silvio the vogue.
SPEAKER_01Just mean about everything, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, I'm sorry, but who would let that tweak into their house? I would be like, no.
SPEAKER_01Like literally, you've been that rude from the offset. Get out.
SPEAKER_02In that double denim, triple denim lurk.
SPEAKER_01And just then just voguing. I would be like, no, sorry, we're turning this off, sorry, we're putting it on the Christmas carols or whatever.
SPEAKER_02They didn't do karaoke again.
SPEAKER_01No. But she did play the karaoke at the end. I'm like, why doesn't she have a speaker system? Probably not because she didn't have any furniture. Oh my god. But she just puts on the karaoke machine. She did too. Yeah. Fuck. Yeah. It was an absolute disaster. And I'm just but also I'm gonna miss it so much.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna miss it so much. Well, that's the thing, everyone's like, uh, I have one friend who like doesn't understand like this. Yeah, and he was like, oh no, I stopped watching that ages ago because it was terrible. I'm like, that's why I'm watching.
SPEAKER_01That's why we watch it. That's why we watch it.
SPEAKER_02I was like, yeah, do you not understand?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, I have to say I have to say, um, it was a season finale of that serious finale, but it was also the season finale of a show that I'm obsessed with that I need to get people on, and people are getting on it. The queers are coming out in full force. It's the Gilded
The Gilded Age Is Everything
SPEAKER_01Age, and the Gilded Age is from the um Julian Fellows who created Downton Abbey, and it is basically New York in the 1870s and 80s. Stunning. With every Broadway legend you can imagine because it's filmed in New York getting a TV gig. So you're seeing all these amazing people that a lot of so you're Audrey McDonald, Donna Murphy, Christine Baransky. Right. Cynthia Nixon can finally devote all her time to the Gilded Age. Thank you. She's no longer held ransom, yeah, held captive to ransom from Sex in the City. But this show, when I tell you, it is literally high-class trash in the best possible way. We have closeted gays, we have illegitimate children, we have everything, all in high society with fabulous frocks. And they're they just had a they just released a hat HBO um called Hot Gilded Summer. So this is where Gilded Age is going, and I highly recommend people get on it because it's season three. It's I'm calling it the Shits Creek of Period dramas because it took one season to get going.
SPEAKER_02Ah, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, whereas Shits Creek, it took me a while, and then season midway through season two, I was like, okay, we're here.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But this show, when I tell you by next year when season four drops, everyone will be excited. Because it is so so good. And Carrie Kuhn from White Lotus is the lead. Love. And she is phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02Because I don't normally fuck with period anything. Yeah. But it is this sounds delicious. I did love The Great.
SPEAKER_01I loved The Great, yeah. Because that was so cool. It's not quite as satirical and kooky. It's very, it's it's a soap opera. Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_02But like But it's not Bridgerton.
SPEAKER_01It's not Bridgerton, and you know, it's I dare say it's yeah, it's the bet it's if you're gonna watch Pierodrama, this is the one to watch. And this season ended with a lavender marriage getting planned. And I'm like, oh sign me up. Yeah, cute. They know the audience. The gay and the spurned woman getting together and saying we can be powerful. I'm like, fabulous. So yeah, get on it. It's fabulous.
SPEAKER_02We
Back to AJLT
SPEAKER_02didn't get a I thought we were gonna get a Giuseppe and Anthony wedding. No, we've had Patty LePine, she didn't turn up. I thought she'd at least run in and be like, stop this abomination.
SPEAKER_01I did love when she got angry and she just dropped the accent. Did you notice that? She was the whole thing was an act. I'm like, but bloody hell, what a disaster. What an absolute disaster. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Look, at least Seema got to fuck the hot gardener. Yep. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02And there was some pit play. That was a highlight for me.
SPEAKER_01Um she's like, oh, I can't even taste the uh I don't even miss the gluten. I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_02The way that they just reduce like lefty characters to these like ground dwelling. At least there was some complexity that he was also quite wealthy. Yes. That was like, oh wow, but everyone else on the show, it's like you can tell like a conservative gay wrote this.
SPEAKER_01That's the issue, and it's just we're seeing, and I think, you know, when Sex in the City was on, we were looking at a very different time, and like and there's no relatability to these characters anymore because they're literally they're obscenely wealthy, they they don't work, they don't do anything.
SPEAKER_02Oh well LTW's working really hard on her documentary that she's been editing all season and did not finish. I was like, Did not finish. You're not even gonna give us like a premiere of the documentary.
SPEAKER_01Because we're apparently Michelle Obama's gonna narrate it. She may or may not. And we don't know, we're not we're never gonna find out.
SPEAKER_02So end a show on Michelle Obama's people may take our call. I was like wow.
SPEAKER_01Ridiculous.
SPEAKER_02And uh like half expecting Michelle Obama to appear.
SPEAKER_01I did, but at the same time, even she knows what an abomination the show is, so I really doubt it. She was like, nah, do you think she's pretty chill, like she's on Las Culturistas and everything, you know, like you know, she's that's like slight to me, yeah, like notten.
SPEAKER_02Can you imagine? I feel like they were trying to get her on. Absolutely, and they're like, hey, we've written this bit for you, and then she was like, No, no, no.
SPEAKER_01No, why would I? Yeah, but and and the whole LTW with the hot editor, like that was nothing, nothing.
SPEAKER_02Did you not also think that he was gonna be like, oh, actually, like I'm gay, or I'm that's what I thought was gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01I literally I was watching the scene, I was looking at it. Some hot guy appears and he's like, This is my husband. You never you actually never asked. But you know what? That would have been a resolution, that would have been fun.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that would have actually been character development and or even just oh, I'm so sorry, I'm not into you like that. You've misread because it was all in her mind. But then to have him like verify, yes, that we have been flirting. I was like, oh my god. It was absolutely seriously, yeah. Because I wanted the husband to be wrong. I can't stand her husband.
SPEAKER_01Just he's the worst, yeah. And and also the oh, there were just so many great lines in this episode. I love that thing where they were talking about what what a marriage is and you have to get used to this, and then and then Charlotte just goes, and cancer? I was like, what the hell? Who wrote this?
SPEAKER_02Or when Carrie was like, Oh, look, you know, I'm just I've just realized that I am the woman and I don't need a man to complete me into Charlotte going, You're so fabulous.
SPEAKER_01I know, it's like just it the whole thing was an absolute train wreck. I just couldn't um yeah. As I said, ChatGPT has been writing this all along. Yes. And I just love there was a quote from Old Mate where he was like, you know, we were sitting in the writers' room and we were just going gangbusters, and we're like, no, this is the gangbus what? Gangbusters.
SPEAKER_02I haven't um fucked with the writers' room podcast, but apparently it's amazing because they just they talk about it like it's fucking breaking bad. It is like do you know what I mean? Like they're like, oh yeah, they take it so seriously. So I kind of need to I think I might go back while I'm mourning a loss of this terrible show.
SPEAKER_01This terrible show that I'm like, if there was a GoFundMe, yeah, I would donate ten dollars to get it back on the air because I what am I gonna hate watch on a you know, on a Friday night now?
SPEAKER_02We also did watch a show, I did make you watch a show called Billionaire, no Billion Dollar Playground. I keep wanting to call it Billionaire's Playground. Yeah, but it's a billion dollar playground, which we will be discussing later on in Untucked. So if you want to join us in the Uncut, Untucked Lounge, um please do. And we'll be talking about that later on.
SPEAKER_01It's delicious.
SPEAKER_02But should we
MasterChef Australia Season 17 Episodes 25-60 Recap
SPEAKER_02get on to MCF? Or as I like to call it, back to Laura.
SPEAKER_01Oh 750 episodes of it.
SPEAKER_0260 episodes we watched.
SPEAKER_01That is insane. Like it is. I kudos to them for still keeping up the free to air model. But that is a commitment that none of us are getting it down. Can we please have just a nice 20 episode?
SPEAKER_02We have some news though from the MCF Universe to discuss first. The first item is Sarah and Declan.
SPEAKER_01Oh yes, I know. Hello. Yes.
SPEAKER_02I love it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, great.
SPEAKER_02Like hot couple. Yeah, absolutely. And I like that the show kind of leaned in a little bit towards the end.
SPEAKER_01Yes. But it didn't go where we thought it was gonna go this final, did it?
SPEAKER_02So we thought we predicted it was Sarah and Laura in the scenario, which is honestly what they were the storyline they were giving us. Yeah. And the whole time I was like, it's Laura and Sarah at the end, and I just and then I thought, well, Laura's gonna win. Yeah. The way they were just the way that Laura would speak and they would be like, oh, stop, genius. Oh, yeah. Oh, native ingredients. What?
SPEAKER_01I know. And it's like they were lit every every time it cut to her being interviewed, it was always this is my third time here. This is my third time here. This is my third time here. It was so hard for me to come back, and I'm like, you know, good honestly.
SPEAKER_02So fucking slight, she literally popped out a child like two days before this or something wild like that. So like wow.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, extraordinary.
SPEAKER_02Amazing and I do love Laura.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's great. She's fun. And I while I would have loved the Sarah Laura showdown, because you know that would it like the hot girlies.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like would have frothed.
SPEAKER_01I I did think it was a good final.
SPEAKER_02It was a great final. Yeah. Callum was also another one who just consistent from the start. Was it a bit of a cop-out though that the finalists were two of the people that were introduced to us on episode one as like being better than everyone else? Remember? Yeah. When they were like, here's three super.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the super ones that ran their like teams and stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I was I was a bit like, oh, for them to make it.
SPEAKER_01Like you were never gonna have Kath in this final. You were never gonna have the air fryer queen. Kathleen.
SPEAKER_02Kath in the final. Was she even there? Was she on the gantry?
SPEAKER_01I I can't even, yeah. She was like, oh. No, she was. She was. But no, we it was always set up. Like there, everyone else is just collateral to the masters of the master chef returns.
SPEAKER_02The other news is that Poe was absolutely robbed of a golden logi, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_01Oh, do you really think so? Fuck yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you think? Who they give it to?
SPEAKER_00Some no Lynn Lynn McGregor. I don't fucking know. Home in a white.
SPEAKER_01So I'm like, who See, it's really funny though. Lynn McGregor said, I think it was like that the silver logi meant more to her because she beat Annator. Which I thought was fabulous. I'm like, no, she's like, oh, this is alright. Yeah, the gold log is fine, but I actually won a best actress against somebody that's looked at.
SPEAKER_02I just think Poe, for me, that's correct. I don't know. Yeah. I think she's done more than like her service to Australian television is like I think her impact has been huge. Yeah. And but of course it's Australia, so a white person needs to win. Of course, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, that'll yeah, that'll never change. Well, who I mean who's voting for the TV week. Oh, it's all votes, isn't it? Yeah, because that's the popular vote. And then like other awards are voted for by a panel of experts.
SPEAKER_02I think they won something that they always win something, M chef. Or maybe they're not anymore. They were always nominated.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, always nominated. And but yeah, no. I I do support Lynn winning because it's also her last year on Home and Away after a hundred years. Um Poe might get in next year. Maybe next year. Let's start the campaign early.
SPEAKER_02Let's do it. Alright, so where the fuck did we leave off? We left off in week six of this marathon show. Uh week seven was oh my god, my boy Dash was eliminated. I know, I felt this one too. This one was actually really hard. Yeah. Um, even though he did get all of his Share House um storylines featured heavily.
SPEAKER_01We're waiting for that, channel 10. When are you gonna drop this show?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know, I'm here for it. Well, they brought Nat back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Nat and a snatched Julie Goodwin, which we'll get to. Oh, we will. But yeah, Dash was eliminated because of some shoe pastry, which I'm always like, yeah, that's shoe pastry is like risotto. It's like if you're gonna do it, like it's either insanely good or like by girl.
SPEAKER_01Or like, yeah. You're eating wet rice. Yeah. Yes, that's just with no flavour. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So we said bye to Dash. Then we had the Lee Kum key mystery box, which I was like, doesn't old mate Declan have like a deal with Lee Kum Key? I was like, yeah, and then he's there, and I'm like, Yeah. He was a bit excited by that one. Um we saw Alana, Andre, Audra, Bo, Callum, Depinda, and Theo um be the top seven, and then they all cooked in a pressure test, which was for immunity, and they had to make ice cream.
SPEAKER_01That's right, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that was cool. I like having an ice cream challenge.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that you can do interesting stuff with it because you know, I and we will get to it in the final. I'm not a dessert fan.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I don't mind the ice cream because I do think it creates the opportunity for them to really experiment and explore with flavors. And there's always some fun flavours. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm into an ice cream challenge, but yeah, sweet week. No, but not my bag. Uh then we had the team service challenge, which was all about dough. Yes. So Theo was like he was rubbing himself over that. I loved it. And it was the yellow team, Audra, Schneez, and Captain Jamie, um, who got sent to elimination. So this was where, so Jamie. What a fucking dark horse. I was first half of the season, I was like picking up what he was putting down, but I didn't think that the judges were. Yeah. I was kind of like, oh, he's really taking this seriously. Totally, yeah, yeah. And I was vibing off his kind of like aggressively hospo energy.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02Um, and I just found myself becoming wildly attracted to James.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I can't explain. No, he's got a voice. He's got a voice, he's got a vibe, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like, oh, I can't do it. You're like, I've just gotta get it's like kind of nasal. Yeah. I'm like, you know. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So he flubbed a bit with this team on the dough challenge. Um, but at that elimination the following week, um, it was a Luxa taste test elimination challenge. The taste test's a little bit bullshit, but whatever. Yeah. Um and it was Samira who was eliminated. Samira's mind. I feel like from week eight to like 12, a lot of eliminations. They were like shit.
SPEAKER_01It was bam. We've got too many people still on this show. We need to hurry the fuck up.
SPEAKER_02Rid of them immediately. Uh then we had the goo mystery box. So so week eight was sweet week. Not your jam, yeah. Not my jam. Thank you. But they had the goo come out of the um mystery box, so they just had to make something with like a gooey centaur. Yeah. Which I do like that. They it's a television show, so they need things that have a bit of drama. Yes. The theatre to the dish. Yes. So I like when they do that. Yeah. Um, Andre, Bo, Callum, and Laura all advanced to the first immunity challenge of the week, which was uh a pressure test. Yep. And I loved this. This was Poe's big bake-off. Yes, no, this was great. Amazing. So Poe famously has her iconic jam face stall. And this is why she's a legend. She's so famous. She could be like, I don't know, she could have a brick and mortar store in every city in Australia, and there'd be lines at all. But no, she gets up at 4 a.m. every Sunday or whenever it is, goes to the Adelaide market and Literally has like trestle tables. Yeah. It's wild.
SPEAKER_01And she'll just talk to people and say hi.
SPEAKER_02She's there every weekend making the Milfoy and the donuts and the cakes. Yeah. And she's there. And she's literally just like that. I'm sorry. Like what a fucking legend. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01All while filming a show. And yes.
SPEAKER_02And she got so emotional about um being able to set this pressure test because she never has before. And so of course she was like, instead of doing like one intricate, like forest garden snow egg, she's like, no, no, you're gonna just cook like all of my hits. So I know I loved this episode and I did cry. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_02Well, because Poe was a mo sh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, Yeah. She gets to me. And you're right. I think my issues with the dessert wigs, as we will get to in the final, is that it is literally like if you just they were if their thing was, let's make some panel chocolate. Yeah. I'm like, right, but it's when they have to make these bejeweled forest things that literally it's for about that much actual food. Oh like the tiniest amount of actual food, but the effort, the hours when they're like, you've got four and a half hours to spray spray paint.
SPEAKER_02Like it's it's a place of spray.
SPEAKER_01And that's I just can't, it doesn't introduce like it. I get it, and I I get that there's a it's artistic and I get all that, but I just like I want I want to see food that I can eat, not just want to look at it. If they have to put on safety goggles, I'm like, that's not food. It's not food.
SPEAKER_02It's fucking craft.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, when they've got those stencils and they have to layer things on and they've got to make it that I'm like that's not that's craft.
SPEAKER_02It becomes what's that glass blowing show?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah, it becomes blowout. Like we're not this is not, I just want to see you make food. Same.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like I would rather see yet another pasta with some green ants on it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um then fucking love that. Love that so much. Actually, you want to eat that so much. Yeah, I would absolutely like fuck yes. But yeah, spray. And that's and that's why I did did like this chalm because she's like, no, you're just gonna actually make real hearty dessert kind of things with some green ants on top of it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Clever girl. Clever girl. But yeah, Poe, she's she made them make a Milfoy and a cake and a normal things, edible things.
SPEAKER_01It was cute.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And Laura's were perfect. Of course. Of course. Uh, Teacher's Pet. Yeah. Uh did it perfect, and so she was safe from Sunday's elimination. Again, though, like just my Adelaide conspiracy theory is that yeah, there's a there's like a lot of Adelaide people on this show looking after each other. Should they not maybe, I don't know, move the show there for one season?
SPEAKER_01They could have a nice, like, sort of um, you know, studio down at the Barossa or something like that. You start, yeah. I feel like go to Maggie Beer's place, you know?
SPEAKER_02They do normally go there, don't they? Just for like a week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I feel yeah.
SPEAKER_02But no, there's But L Laura and Poe.
SPEAKER_01Is it time for a change of location, maybe? Maybe. I mean, obviously I want it to be in Melbourne because I want everything to be. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02I was thinking during it, I'm like, Well just a special season. Yeah, they could do I reckon the SA tourism board would be highly interested in that. Oh, also, how are you feeling about the Beverly Hills girls coming to Victoria? Delayed Delayed? Do you think Joel Crassey is correct? And it's because of the Melbourne Cup.
SPEAKER_01Of course it is. Do you think that's why they're coming? Of course it is.
SPEAKER_02Do you think? Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, they yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because didn't like Kim Kay come one year. Yeah. Back in the day, we had, you know, Paris Hilton and Milsey getting it on.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. And I know with you know, most of the people that will be listening have uh the same opinion of the Melbourne Cup, but it would be an appropriate event for them.
SPEAKER_02I can see Sutton sitting there in a box.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. You know, you could get Erica to sing the national.
SPEAKER_02Is Erica still involved? Is she? I don't know. Sure, I don't know. I've got I've gone very cold on it. Yeah, Eddie Khan fucking loves Erica Jane. Yeah. And I'm like, she's not the one. Yeah. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't yeah. I don't know, but I haven't looked, I haven't watched it in ages, to be honest. As soon as Elisa Rena went that last the follow-up season, I just kind of lost interest.
SPEAKER_02You're not missing out.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, something to think about tourism essay. Uh then we had the Jelly Gems taste test immunity challenge. Taste test. Fuck off.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Don't need it. No, don't need it. I wanted to watch people eat things and go, mmm. It looked like a strawberry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But it could have been coriander.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, I don't need it.
SPEAKER_01No, nil interest.
SPEAKER_02Um but Callum's take on a gin and tonic jelly was declared the winner, and he joined Laura uh with immunity for the next limb. That was quite cute. Callum, how do you feel about Callum?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Not an exciting presence on a television show, but undeniably talented. Undeniably talented, yeah. I think he just needs to stick to restauranting and not television.
SPEAKER_01Well, it is a hard thing with this show, isn't it? Because it's like you obviously have to have a you know an extraordinary you know talent for cooking. Yeah. But you also want somebody that's charismatic, that's you know So Laura ticks that and you know, to be fair, we love the Kaths and all that because their personalities, even if they're not up to the same standard.
SPEAKER_02You are so I'm very upset. I love Kath. Bring back Kath again. Bring back Kath. Judging Kath.
SPEAKER_01And who's the um I'm sorry, I can never remember her name, but the um the air fryer queen woman. Oh fuck. Yes, yeah, her. Like she's always pops up on my Facebook, like she'll with her video, and she's like, here's your two-minute meal, or whatever it is. Fucking love her. Love her. Yeah. Sorry that I forgot your name, doll, but you're fabulous. Like, I just love people that I do like the people that are like a relatable, you know, that you can see. Yeah. You know, as well as, but you know, I get why they have people that are like obviously, you know, but yeah, I think he's one of those that where it's like the personality isn't, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's not personality. He's not a TV personality. No, but he still has like he's still intriguing. Yeah. And I was always really here for his food. But yeah, sometimes the way he like talks to the judges, you're like, oh boy. He kind of has like a dad daggy dad vibe going on, and he just kind of says he's like, Oh yeah, you you're really gonna appreciate the balance on this one soap. And I'm like, Oh, yeah, okay. But then Sarah walks on the screen, and I'm just captivated. Isn't she just she's resplendent?
SPEAKER_01She is fucking heaven, exquisite.
SPEAKER_02I oh my god, like questioning my sexuality.
SPEAKER_01I know same.
SPEAKER_02Like she's just I want to move to India and just like meditate for like a month with Sarah in like a Vipassana.
SPEAKER_01Like she's just she just comes on and it's just like you just feel this energy. She's yeah, incredible, yeah, it's magnetic, yeah, luminous.
SPEAKER_02And then like I love that she I feel like something changed for her this season. Maybe she was getting dicked down by Declan. But I feel like she just was like, Do you know what? I don't actually want to win this. Yeah, winning for her looked like I'm just gonna be really chaotic. Yeah, and I'm gonna make the most fucked stuff. Yeah, which she did.
SPEAKER_01She did, and she succeeded for the most part.
SPEAKER_02And then some of them just like flopped, but at least she gave it a go. And I was like, Thank you, Sarah, for taking risks every week. Yeah, and not being like, I'm just gonna whip out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it is a really interesting thing with this because you do, as you said, we went into the season with like people like these are the masters of the master chef, and this is everyone else. Um, you know, she is one of the masters, she's got a fucking you know, extraordinary career that she's built. And like it wasn't a Laura thing where Laura's like, no, this is like I need this. I need this. Laura was like, I'm gonna like jump off a cliff if I don't know. Yeah, like I will like this trophy, but like, we're giving to it. Um, but whereas Sarah, oh yeah, I think like her mind mindset changed throughout the course of the season, which was great. Like, go for it. And you know, because we love her and we stand her. So we love a green ant.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, oh week nine uh was Aussie Icons Week. Yes. Loved this. Uh we had the nostalgia elimination challenge, and Bo, who was still with us, he he made it further than I thought. Yes, but you know, go off the king. Uh he wanted to make a spider-inspired dessert, which I thought was a good idea, yeah, but it just didn't no, he didn't ask. No, yeah. So bye, girl.
SPEAKER_01Yep, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Bo. I was impressed. Even he's like, he was very humble in his confessionals. He was like, Look, I haven't made a career in food after Master Chef, yeah, unlike all of these other people, yeah, that for the most part had. So he was kind of like knew that like was he a firefighter or something? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, but anyway, he was like, Yeah, I haven't gone and done the food thing, so pretty crazy to make it that far. So to go to week nine, which you know, episode 7000.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because it's like I couldn't think of anything worse than wanting to make a career as a chef. Like I think it would be the most stressful, and as somebody who can't who is you know comes from a performing background, like it's stressful, it is like you don't have a life. Yeah, you don't have a life.
SPEAKER_02It I do occasionally romanticize it. Yeah, and I'm like, oh, wouldn't like a a food career be amazing? And then I'm like, no.
SPEAKER_01No, even if you just were you even if you just owned like a little cafe and you had like nah, it's so stressful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So the fact that he's like, nah, I'm I can't do this.
SPEAKER_02I mean, look, firefighting? Yeah, probably not that chill either.
SPEAKER_01No, but like, yeah, yeah. I think it is probably, yeah, it would I dare say, even though yeah, the immediate stress, like the immediate danger in firefighting compared to the overall stress of cooking and running a restaurant, yeah, pretty equal.
SPEAKER_02Then I've got to give my hats off to 10 for including in Aussie Icons Week Norny Barrow. How amazing. Yes. And she walked in, I was like, yes, like correct. Yeah, absolutely. Um and yeah, like it shouldn't be, but it is a big deal for Australian television to do something like this, yeah, especially if you're having Laura fucking putting green hats on everything every week. It's like, let's at least like platform some First Nation talent as well. So to have Nawny come in as like a big deal, yeah. Um, great person to have for a mystery box, throw them all up. And I really like this was a very interesting conversation to have on Australian television where all of the uh Australian contestants were referring to the ingredients that are native to this country as foreign and exotic because we don't cook with them. No, because we've been, you know, turning our back on this culture for centuries. Yeah, so it's kind of like amazing now to acknowledge that. Yeah. And I just want to see these ingredients become staple parts of our life. Absolutely, right? Yeah. And this show is gonna help with that because people recreate recipes from this show, yeah. Which drives demand for these products to be put into production. Amazing.
SPEAKER_01And I hadn't seen it really until I I'm uh I love Bake Off. Yeah. And the last season of Australian Bake Off, there was a First Nations bake-up and he was using all these extraordinary things that the judges had never experienced before.
SPEAKER_02Judges on Aussie Bacoff.
SPEAKER_01I can't remember their names. So no one's I I watch it, but I I'm I'm very much a Team UK um backoff girl. But the like this, you know, they were experiencing things in a new way, which is great, and it's so important. And yeah, as you said, after the absolute diabolical sushi mango episode, it was really nice to have some Australian culture just gotten that was actually important. Thank you.
SPEAKER_02Yes, true, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That sushi mango episode was a real low point in the entire Master Chef universe. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Uh so we had that. Ben, Jamie, Sarah, and Theo were sent into the Elimination. Uh, of course, Laura smashed that one. Of course. Then we had the cook with Curtis, and I said, Oh, Curtis Stone's back. He's back. What a huge slab of man. Slab of man. He's a he is the man equivalent of like a porter house steak.
SPEAKER_01He is a porter house steak, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, fuck me.
SPEAKER_01Um no ten dollar meals at Cole's anymore, though. Sorry, Curtis. It's not we can't do it. Times are tough. Times are tough. Curtis, can you get in? But I admire how long you did it for.
SPEAKER_02Can you get in touch with the Cole's CEO, Curtis? Yeah, and see what's going on.
SPEAKER_01See what's going on.
SPEAKER_02Ruining our lives. Yeah. Um, Theo's undercooked pasta was his undoing. Yes. And he was eliminated. Again, Theo, love, but did not think that he would get this far. So well done, doll. Looking cute with that mo as well. Real sweetie. He's not someone that, yeah, if he opens a business, yeah, like a bakery or some kind of bread themed restaurant. I am there. Absolutely. Like I wanna eat him. His shit is like drool. Uh okay. Then we had an ice cream immunity challenge again. Yeah, two ice creams. Uh, and Laura won. Oh no, this was this was the fucking like uh get your ice cream into production. That challenge, yes. I know because I stupidly went to Coles Melbourne Central to see if they had it, which they did not. No. Um, because Coles Melbourne Central is especially being raped and pillaged.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and it's like last season when I couldn't get that sauce. I never get the sauce. It's always gone by the time we try and get it. I wanted to make the Indian inspired spaghetti, but I couldn't.
SPEAKER_02The Intellian spaghetti. Yeah, the yes.
SPEAKER_01Sounded great. Sounded so good. They made three three bottles and put them on the shelf. That was it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02A bit of chutney and some facade, you'll be fine.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Uh Laura One, of course. Of course. With her sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce, which I was like, I'm sorry. Does that flavor not already exist?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02I was not I was not moved by this flavor.
SPEAKER_01No, it didn't, yeah. Like, I'm pretty sure I've eaten something along those lines.
SPEAKER_02Sarah Lee? Or connoisseur? Who is the brand of ice cream? I feel like they should want something a little bit more exciting.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02But maybe not.
SPEAKER_01Maybe not.
SPEAKER_02There's an there's already you can get a sticky day pudding for ice cream. Yeah. Or maybe that's why she won, because it was already in production. Yeah. They just slapped Sarah's face on it or Laura's face on it. Uh week 10.
SPEAKER_01Maggie Beer. Oh, my favourite. I love her so much. Isn't she she is a goddess. She is just insane. I love her so much.
SPEAKER_02So good. They wheeled her out. Uh it was Maggie Beer Time versus Ingredients Elimination Challenge. How do you feel about when they do all this? Stuff with time. Yeah. Look, I because they did a bit of it towards the end.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, I I I it doesn't ruffle my feathers in any particular way. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02But I um look, I think I don't like watching people being rushed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And that this show is a show of people being rushed. I know it upsets you. Yeah. I would just give them as much time as I need.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think I'm I'm I'm I think time is important in these shows for me. I think it creates a sense of urgency, and that's Which is the chefiness. Because if we Yes, if we were just watching saying, Oh, if you're like, oh, you've got all day, it would be different. Pop open a bottle of wine. Exactly. It wouldn't have slow cook some you know that is the thing that they're literally, yes, exactly. Yeah, we'll just put on the we're putting on the slow cook because we'll see you in ten hours.
SPEAKER_02Do a slow cook uh challenge last season. I loved it. It was so good. It was like put something on and we'll come back tomorrow or whatever. Yeah, and I was like, fuck yeah. Yeah, like it was like you could marinade or slow cook or whatever, and I was like, stunned.
SPEAKER_01But look, I think it I think it does need it. It does you're right. It does even like you know, other shows like my beloved bake off, it's still like they have four hours, they have two hours, they have so even though you know bake off is something like bake off, which is a lot more even less stressful, there is still a sense of some urgency, you know. So it's it is required, I think, because you know, but yeah, this was yeah. They love to up the ante.
SPEAKER_02I like the trading time for ingredients thing. Yeah, I when it's just like use your time however you want, you have to split it over the rounds, that stresses me out.
SPEAKER_01Yes, but no, I do like the swapping of the ingredient to time, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um Declan's dish was criticized for not having enough sauce to complete the dish, uh resulting in him being eliminated. So Sarah's getting no more D on Sarah. Oh, Sarah. I reckon they were stuping at the quest departments or everything. Yeah, we're down on race course road. Yeah. I reckon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh then we had the air fryer mystery box. Yes. Bound to happen. We love an air fryer.
SPEAKER_01I've never cooked with an air fryer. Oh, I'm just chic. I actually go and chop my wood and then put it under on the fire and then I cook on top of that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02To go from Maggie Beer to air fryer is like. It's fabulous.
SPEAKER_01I know, like Maggie Beer would not have an air fryer.
SPEAKER_02No, she wouldn't even know what it she would be disgusted. Oh, oh. Where does the Virgil stuff?
SPEAKER_01I know exactly.
SPEAKER_02She would have a conniption if someone told her what an air fryer was.
SPEAKER_01Fucking love an air fryer. God, do I love an air fryer?
SPEAKER_02Oh uh, so we had three bottoms.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Alana, Andre, and Schnez. Uh we're all sent to Oh fuck, I love Schneez. I love Schneez. All sent to the precious test. Again, another one. Didn't think she'd go that far. So still.
SPEAKER_01But she did so well. She did so well. She's such a beautiful presence. Like she's just so lovely.
SPEAKER_02She needs to open some kind of like authentic home-cooked restaurant. I am there.
SPEAKER_01I know. Just, you know, just with a nice service with a smile. Like she'd just be lovely and homely. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh what happened next? Then we had the uh dawn of a tropical new day pressure test. So this was a a frilly um garden-esque dessert. So many gardens in this day. Like, you'll be cooking my frilly garden dessert.
SPEAKER_01Oh and it's like this will take you 72 hours.
SPEAKER_02And each time they're like, wow, it's the most intricate thing that's ever been done. So I'm like, You said that literally last week.
SPEAKER_01It is just I can't I get so frustrated for these contestants because it's like they're capable of these extraordinary things, and they're literally doing decoration. And I'm just like, let them make a meal.
SPEAKER_02It is decorating.
SPEAKER_01It's just decorating because at the core base it's like a little bit of cake, and then it's like 500 feathers made out of tempered chocolate.
SPEAKER_02And just tempered chocolate, not exciting, TV. No, it's not. Spraying.
SPEAKER_01Just going back to the microwave all over to try and temper it properly. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Also, you're telling me at these restaurants one person is making those.
SPEAKER_01There's 20 people making and also so much of it's done pre-in-advanced. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02They would do it, they wouldn't do all those tempered chocolate things and like pop them in the fridge.
SPEAKER_01They literally have a whole thing ready to go. No one is making that from scratch. No.
SPEAKER_02Ever. In the time. Yeah, it's so true. Uh, but Andre, who was still with us apparently, uh flavours were unbalanced. Unbalanced by girl for Andre. Um, again, was not present on the season.
SPEAKER_01No. Yeah, made no impact. Yeah. Nothing more to say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Then we had the barbecue battle today.
SPEAKER_01Which I I enjoyed. I loved this. Yeah, I love the barbecue battle. It's really good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh Callum's Fig and Strawberry Pavlova received high compliments.
SPEAKER_01And you know what? Even though I've gone on my thing about dessert, fucking love a pavlite.
SPEAKER_02Oh, iconic.
SPEAKER_01So good. Like because you can eat it. There's a substantial amount to eat. You know, like there's something to put in your mouth that's not gels.
SPEAKER_02I don't want a gel or a a granita.
SPEAKER_01A half bite. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Amazing. Uh so yeah, he won um immunity. Yeah, on his elimination. And then we had Qatar Week. Yes. Which I was loving this. So this happened right when I was flying setting, yes. On guitar. So I was like kind of living this was your immersive. This was my I was like watching it on a Qatar fly. Yeah. Being like incredible tie-in. Yeah. They're really coming for Quantas, aren't they? Oh yeah. They want us all. And you know what? You you have us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolutely. Such a better airline. Qatar is the best airline. Incredible alone. I it yeah, it's such even in like no matter where you are, economy, whatever, it is such a standard of service. Like it is so good. The planes are great. It yeah.
SPEAKER_02This tie-in though, like hats off to whoever the fuck did this like promotion crossover, because they hit the nail on the head. They got a whole week in Qatar. Yeah, they got two challenges where the contestants had to like fight for like business class tickets. I know, which I thought was so clever and like amazing. Yeah. Um, yeah, it was stun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was I loved it.
SPEAKER_02So good. So we had then Jamie, Laura, and Sarah flying business on the way over. So that was cute. Then they arrive and it's like a million degrees, and they make them do like an outside mystery box challenge. I was like, oh, and everyone was like sweating on the food.
SPEAKER_01And I the last time that I flew to Qatar was when they the airport was kind of being done over. Oh yeah, and they're done out, it looks amazing. But oh my god, you had to go onto the tarmac. It is a heat you have never felt before in your life. It is crazy. You're in an oven. Yep. It is, yeah, so that was lovely of them.
SPEAKER_02I love this mystery box though. They gave them all local ingredients, which was crazy. It was like camel milk and yeah, yeah, uh Kirsch emulsion loomy saffron dates. I was like, what? I didn't know what half of these things were. No, no, makeup was delicious. I was here for that one. Um, and Jamie nailed it. This is when Jamie was like, hello, viewers. I don't know if you realize this, but I'm kind of cunt. Yeah. He was like, he told me that it this week, and I was like, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Okay, Jamie.
SPEAKER_02Here we go. Uh then we went to the Islamic Museum of Art, which is a beautiful building. I have been there. Oh, have you been there? Yeah, it's huge. And it's this great big marble box um right on the water, and it's stunning. And they went to the restaurant there and did a six-course degustation immunity challenge. Um, and the judges announced that Ben and Laura were the top two.
SPEAKER_00What a shock.
SPEAKER_02Laura in the top two!
SPEAKER_00What a shock. Groundbreaking.
SPEAKER_02So then Ben won immunity. Um thoughts.
SPEAKER_01Look, always with these shows, I go from a girlies, you know? Yeah. Like if I can't I although I love Dash, obviously. Dash was gorgy. But like I just I just he was a bit dry for me.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I like the Kiwi sense of humour in real life. Yeah. On television, I'm a bit like, okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, agreed. And I just look, I've I'm always rooting for McGurlies, you know. I just I'm more invested in their journey, so I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02I'm such a I did love when he stitches himself up on his own mystery box later on. Yeah, that was pretty good. And he's like, oh shit, yeah, probably shouldn't have picked all these shitty ingredients. I was like, sorry. Oh god. How could you not also a few of them were like, I didn't realise I'd be cooking with these. I'm like, how did you not realise that? Yeah. I asked you, so if you could cook with anything, what'd you pick? You're like, oh, I'll just have a laugh. Yeah. Cook with uh dog feces and uh cabbage. Arsenic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, great. Oh no! Green ants.
SPEAKER_02Green ants. What would you put in your mystery box?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I would just look, I'm not a I'm not a I don't love cooking, so it would probably take away it would be my Uber Eat.
SPEAKER_02An Uber Eats voucher just sitting in the mystery box.
SPEAKER_01Look, just everything to make a carbonara, like an authentic carbonara. I can do an authentic carbonara.
SPEAKER_02So what eggs?
SPEAKER_01Eggs, yeah. Some of the things. Yeah, yeah. Um, that's probably what I would do. Okay. Yeah, that's all I could cook. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's good. I'm trying to think what I would put probably like avocado. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Could eat avocado every day of my life. Um I don't know. Something I would also just like, because I knowing that they're gonna go and get it, I would just pick really expensive stuff. Oh yeah. Like truffeluga caviar.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Truffles. Truffles.
SPEAKER_02Um Morton Bay buttons. Morton Bay Butt Which they do wheel out on this show. Yes, they do. And every time they do, I'm like, oh fuck me. I'll be uh then what happened? Then we had Home Time. Um De Pinder did a prawn banana bread thing in the business class lounge. Yes. Loved this episode so much. Um and she won immunity. It did look really good. De Pinder slayed this season in the quietest, most humble way. Yeah, what a fucking queen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, absolute queen.
SPEAKER_02Week 12 was the dual uh elimination change. Alana made some the burnt fennel seed pavlova, uh, but it was too overwhelming with fennel flavour. Yeah, and we said bye, Alana. Thoughts on that?
SPEAKER_01Um I yeah, I was disappointed in the the flavour she chose for this. I just thought it was yeah, it's especially if Callum just won with like a exactly like pav, it's like come on. To go from burnt fig, which you can imagine to burnt fennel. It's just no, it just it didn't sound appetizing, and I know that doesn't necessarily mean that it's gonna, you know, yeah end up tasting awful, but like in the terms of a pavlova, you know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Then we had a garlic mystery box, a pressure test with Michael Wilson's Marguerite Opera. Yes. I can't remember that, but it sounds like a frilly dessert.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, the opera's the opera. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Was that the the layers? Yeah. Yeah. That actually looked quite starring.
SPEAKER_01There, yeah, it is a very interesting and you gotta do the thing with the um the notes and everything and all that stuff. That was quite cute.
SPEAKER_02Uh Jamie was closest and he won immunity. And again, this is Jamie would just from like week 10 onwards. It was like, hi everyone. Then we had the Lucky Dip uh immunity challenge. So we had Ben choosing V for Vegimite. Yes. Callum chose Q for Quince, DePinda chose C for Coffee, and Laura chose A for ants. No, um and Chavez. Imagine it. So many ants. She picks A and then like production just like run out some ants. Yeah. And Sarah chose P for Pandan. I love what Sarah did with the Pandan. Agreed. I was like getting so excited for her, and she was like, she's like, I don't fucking know what this is, but I'm gonna do it because that's one of my favourite flavours as a pandan. Uh and Schneez chose M for Miso. Um, and ultimately the judges decided that Laura received immunity. What a shock!
SPEAKER_00Work! What? You're kidding me. Whoa. Unheard of.
SPEAKER_01Shook.
SPEAKER_02Week 13. We had a 90-minute two-round elimination challenge. Because you know the regular length of the episodes wasn't enough. No.
SPEAKER_01And what episode are we on now? About episode 92?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, 902. Schnees uh fucked up her time management. Yes. And this is where we sadly said goodbye after she served some dry mushrooms.
SPEAKER_01I know.
SPEAKER_02I was Devo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So were the judge. This was one of the first Delims where the judges were Devo.
SPEAKER_01Mushrooms just getting a bad rap. Yeah. Yeah. Of light. You can't win with mushrooms.
SPEAKER_02Yep. And we had Andy Allen's Everything Mystery Box. Uh, I don't know, man. I love Andy, but like I didn't love his ingredients in the middle. No, neither. They were too. I don't you feel like Andy is constantly trying to prove to everyone that he's like a food guy. It's like we know it's I want you to relax. I want to be like Andy. We know it's a very like frail like fragile masculinity. Yeah, totally. But he's very like, hey everyone, look how on the pulse of food trends I am or whatever. And I'm like, just chill. Yeah. You are on this show, man. Yeah, we respect you. You look great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh, he looks so good.
SPEAKER_02So I just want him to like he feels a little bit insecure still. Yeah, yeah. Shouldn't be too hard on him, though. He did like lose his best mate and mentally.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's been a they've they've all they've all had a rough time.
SPEAKER_02So uh Vieudemont next.
SPEAKER_01Now have you been to Vieudemont?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but before that child was in charge. Yes. I do love that child. They bring him out and I'm like, oh I know.
SPEAKER_01It's like, whoa, hello.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, have you been?
SPEAKER_01No. It's pretty stunned. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You can just go to the bar. You can just go to the and that's quite cute. And because it's where the like observation deck used to be before Eureka was built. So it's like a really great view.
SPEAKER_01And I that's what been working there. Oh, has she? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Stun when she's not hanging out in North Melbourne. Oh, no, stash. So good. Uh loved that. Callum won the challenge and immunity from Sundays on National. Didn't he? He got like a wasabi leaf or something. And he made pasta with it or something. It looked so good.
SPEAKER_01Like the whole that was done. Like the ingredients they got.
SPEAKER_02He's full, like just like specky girl, isn't he? Yeah. Like he just goes for it and it's like methodical. Yeah. And he just does it. He never looks stressed out. No. Yeah. And born to be a chef. Family inspired immunity challenge next. Loved this. This is when they all made them cry with letters from hers. Love that. Good work, 10.
SPEAKER_01Perfect reality TV moment. That's what we need. It kind of has to happen in every show, doesn't it? You know, these kind of contestant shows.
SPEAKER_02Uh, but of course, Laura's native Australian summer dessert, uh, which looked great. Paper bark ice cream, wattle seed, puff pastry, cinnamon, myrtle, cream petit, yeah. Fuck yeah. So good. Surprise, surprise. Yeah. She wins immunity.
SPEAKER_01Shocked.
SPEAKER_02Alright, week 14. Wow, this is the first time. Winner's Pantry. Yeah, there's 75 weeks. Yeah. Uh Winner's Pantry elimination. This is when a snatched Julie Goodwin entered the room. I gasped when she walked in.
SPEAKER_01I yeah, it was very it's because obviously there's been a lot of things like you know, people have been claiming, you know, oh, she's on the Ozempic and stuff. And she's being very private about it.
SPEAKER_02And I mean, girl.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Of course she is.
SPEAKER_01But you know what? She looks phenomenal. She looks great. She looks great. She looks radiant. I will always love Julie. It was hot. Um, but yeah, it's yeah, she came on and it was like bam.
SPEAKER_02Nat, what a delight. Love Nat on my TV. Uh, and I like this because it was kind of like new school versus old school. Yeah, yeah. And I was like, you can pick your pantry, like Julie's, you know, m Australiana mum pantry or Nat's like cool young hot thai pantry. Totally. I know which one I would have told. Yeah. But um love that there was that choice.
SPEAKER_01And it just goes to show also how the you know, the old version you how it has changed in this the approach to cooking. Yeah, it was like so different in its first season.
SPEAKER_02But this was a sad one. Um, it was came down to Jamie V. Sarah, and I was convinced Jamie was going. I was like, they can't get rid of Sarah because she's in the panel. No, I've already decided that. This was a shock. This is where she yeah.
SPEAKER_01This was actually I was like, This was a gag. Like, this was literally like none of us saw this coming. I don't it's really interesting because you do you you know with these shows, they're obviously produced to a certain degree, but when it comes to a cooking show, there has to be a point where it's like, no, if it's not good, you can't sugarcoat it. You can't, you know, and if it wasn't up to the standard, and I think they would have thrown them all. They would have thrown it all because you then you have to actually think of a new narrative. I know, like, because it real we were we were f it was absolutely always supposed to be a Sarah versus Laura showdown. Like incredible though.
SPEAKER_02Like, I yeah, this was cool to happen. But we needed a moment, and it will we also need a moment to learn or to have it reinforced that the judges are actually judging.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that it's not just them going, now who's gonna win this week, yeah, even though they're like struggling to swallow it because it's awful. But oh, that was perfect, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Then we had the favourite ingredients mystery box, so Ben stitching himself up. Uh, but Tapinda made curry leaf ice cream, and they love that, so she got immunity, and then Ben, downward trajectory, yeah, and this was so sad for him to go home on the challenge where they had the Kiwi guy come in, and he was so excited, and they were using like Kiwi ingredients, and it was like he was really excited about it and Devo. Yeah, he fucked it up.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Bye Ben.
SPEAKER_01I actually grew to like Ben. Yeah, I liked Ben.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Alright, finals week, we made it. Well done.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Uh De Pinder. This made me emotion. She left on the first elimination. Uh, and I just love how she was so humble to the end. I think um uh what's the French judge's name? Jean Christophe. Yep. He really liked De Pinder. De Pundo. De Pinder.
SPEAKER_00De Panda It is magnifique, it was magnificent. Uh yeah, he love it. Love it. I do not like it. I love it. Oh, he's fake. I I really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_02But he highlighted that she was so humble even to the end. It was super cute. Then we had the fun one, which I didn't watch. Yeah. I was like, I can't with the fun one. No. Yeah, didn't watch it either. I get they need to like make the content quota, but like episode 2212. So we just no one's going or winning anything. I don't want to watch it. No. Semi-final uh service challenge, Jamie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Incredible effort, but pipped at the post.
SPEAKER_01Pipped at the post.
SPEAKER_02So shocked he came third, though. Yeah. Amazing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like a real dark horse.
SPEAKER_02And then the grand finale. Oh. So what did you think? It was a great episode.
SPEAKER_01It was a great episode, but fucking annoyed. What did they end with?
SPEAKER_02A sweet, a frilly sweet.
SPEAKER_01A frilly sweet tree garden.
SPEAKER_02So it was like a Filipino chef? It looked cool, but I was like Lucina.
SPEAKER_01Give them something where they can also. I feel that the thing that I I get annoyed that it was the last challenge was because it's somebody else's design. Yeah. It's somebody else's invention. It's somebody else's creative taste. It's not there, it's not giving these contestants their identity.
SPEAKER_02But I think they need the technical thing to make it seem fair. Yeah. But I agree with you.
SPEAKER_01But I did like at least we had something in the first half of the episode, you know, but and that was the nail biter because they both got the exact same point. That was fun. And then, but it did like it came down to time management, didn't it? It came down to time management. And Laura was perfect. Laura was perfect. Congrats. You did it, babe. You did it, babe. What a and you never need to go on the show again now. Until there's like some weird random thing where they're like, let's do another one. It's winners, winners, winners.
SPEAKER_02I could see her on the judging panel. Yeah, yeah. I was gonna say Sophia, um, uh who I love, love, loved when she first came on. Was it last season?
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02She's so comfortable on television. I feel like she's been there forever.
SPEAKER_01That's it's extraordinary. Extraordinary.
SPEAKER_02She's inceptioned into my brain. It's like she's been there forever. Her and Laura had a thing, you can tell. They were like little Italian girlies loving each other.
SPEAKER_01But no, she's so comfortable. It's just so secure and so I love her.
SPEAKER_02I really want to like do some lines with her bathroom. I don't know. She'd be a good time, I reckon. She would be. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01No, she's but look, it was my annoyance aside about the final challenge. It was a very good episode of TV, and it was, you know, it was as we said, it, you know, it created a sense of urgency because I literally had to create this sculpture out of nothing. Yeah. And that is, you know, that is a master chef. That is a master chef to be able to do that. And both of them, you know, it came down to little details, and Laura was perfect.
SPEAKER_02She was.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_02And back to Green Ants we go. Back to Green Ants we go. Well done, doll.
SPEAKER_01We did it.
SPEAKER_02Shall we head over to Uncut?
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_02We'll see the dolls there. Bye bye.
